can u tell me...what do i have to do to be a hairdresser...like what studies?? and all
thanks and also..how much money do u get? What to i have to do to be a HAIR-DRESSER?
you need to go to beauty school and get your license. depending on what state you live in, you will need anywhere between 1000 and 1800 hours completed in a licensed and qualified beauty program to get a license. where you go to school is your decision.
a more expensive school like Paul Mitchell, Toni %26amp; Guy, Vidal Sassoon, etc., will be pricey, but you will learn much more about the industry, techniques, and styling. these schools are for people who want to dominate the beauty industry.
if you dont have the money, or aren't looking to dive headfirst into this, i would just go to a local beauty school (i'm sure theres one around you somewhere). here you will learn the basics in order to pass your license exam (perms, rollersets, pincurls, fingerwaves, basic haircutting and coloring laws, manicures, and a basic facial). none of these things really pertain to todays styles or techniques, and if you want to be a successful hairdresser, you will need more education than that, but it will give you a license to do it.
i went to Paul Mitchell in rhode island, and i loved it. it all depends on what your personal goals are as far as career opportunitys. it is a tough business, and difficult to get into. i currently make about $50,000 a year (give or take a little bit). your income is constantly changing, one week i might make $600, another week i'lll make $1200. tips are a big help! i've been doing this for 3 years, i'm a good stylist, i work at a good salon, and our prices are ';average';. $35 for a haircut, $120 for a full foil and haircut, $65-85 for a color...most stylist get a percentage of how much they bring in. i get half (which is higher than average). it takes awhile to start making money, and you really have to know what your doing in order to build a clientelle. What to i have to do to be a HAIR-DRESSER?
go to collage
cosmetology school. if you dont know where one is any local college should be able to tell you where the nearset one is. and it is not cheap. it too me 9 months and cost me $7000. i hope its cheaper for you.
YOU HAVE TO CREATE DRESSES FOR HAIRS.
u have to go to a hair design school to learn cosmetology and u dont get any money u r a student u might get som tips but u might not they have hair schools by themselves or at community schools have them too
You have to go to a specail hair dressing school. If you are really good you will make some money but not a ton.
In some areas there are vo-tech high schools that offer a program at no charge. Other than that you must attend a Cosmetology school after graduation. You will study Chemistry, Anatomy, Color Theory, Nail care, Skin care and sanitation as it relates to public health. Pay varies greatly. Most stylist work on a commission of 45-55% of what they charge plus tips. Some places charge $25 for a cut while Sally Hershberger charges $650. It all depends on you and your skills! I beg to differ with the girl who posted that stylist don't make a ton. I make well over 6 figures. Best of luck.
