Ok, i am fourteen years old and my mom agreed to getting me highlights. I have naturally light-brown hair with a few blonde streaks. I don't like this color because i find it mousey and boring, so i thought i would either get enough higlights so that i would go blonde or dye my hair dark brown, i chose to get highligts. I don't want to dye the whole head but do you know any ways where you could just dye it on the top so it looks blonde or anything? I want it to look blonde but i don't want to dye the whole head. Please only answer if it answers my question. Please answer if you are a hair-dresser or know a lot about hair.?
If you want to look blonde without dying your whole head, you could ask for some chunky sections of the top of the hair to be bleached. This may require a few more foils though so the price could go up. Tell your sylist, when you go, what exactly you're trying to do. You may not get it quite right the first time but afterwards you'll know what you need to do to achieve the look you're looking for. Or you could get a half and half, with the blonde on the top layer of your hair and maybe a richer brown than your natural color on the bottom. I'd go with the first option though. Please answer if you are a hair-dresser or know a lot about hair.?
Foil Weave = Highlights throughout the hair, very natural and nice looking. Have a pro do it! Dont try it yourself.
Highlights and lowlights can be created in a number of ways via foils (or highlighting paper), a technique called balyage, or a cap.
The most popular way is via foils (or highlighting paper). In this method, the colorist selects strands of hair, places them on a piece of foil, uses a color brush to cover them with a hair lightener or color, depending on the desired effect, and then folds the bottom edge of the foil up to the top to sandwich in the hair.
I'd go for a heavy highlight. Have them use foils, it will get more coverage than the cap, but it will be 'chunkier'. If you have them use the cap, have them pull through more hair. Go to a trusted hair professional to have this done. I do not recommend doing this at home!
Just tell the hairdresser that you want lots of sunstreaked looking highlights and have her vary the shades from very light to a little darker...ie. don't have all the highlights the same color.
