My hair-dresser told me my hair was dry. So how can I keep it healthy without putting a nasty products in it?

I have very thick blonde hair that's about three inches past my shoulders. My ends aren't split, and it's naturally straight. In my entire life, I've only ever used a curling iron three times, and never a hair straightner, nor do I blow dry my hair.

But you see, this makes my hair really dry.

My hair dresser suggest I use silk, but I hate putting that gunk in my hair everyday. I don't like the fumes of hair-care products: hairspray, gel, ect.

Is there anyway I can keep my hair healthy without having to use leave in products? (except maybe a leave-in conditioner?) My hair-dresser told me my hair was dry. So how can I keep it healthy without putting a nasty products in it?
a leave in conditoner like the one from garnier fructis would be great....you could also try some hot oil treatments and a thicker creamier conditioner.....
