Which is better to go to? a barber or a hair dresser?

As a hair stylist for over 12 years I would say it depends on what you are wanting to have done. Barbers have been around a long time but most that I know do not do much with chemicals. So if you are wanting highlights, color, perm or straightener I would go to a salon/hair dresser. How ever if you are needing your hair cut with clippers barbers might be better, although myself and many other hair stylist I have worked with have had barbering classes. The main difference bet ween a barber and hair stylist is barbers are licensed to be able to use a razor with out a guard on the face. Both if they have gone to a good school should and have talent should do a good job. Also just some one has been cutting hair for 30 years does NOT mean they are good.


Ethnic barbers do tons of clipper work ad have see some way cool stuff done by then. Best bet if you see someone whose hair you like ask where the had it done or go somewhere and just watch the people work then choose someone that you feel does good work.Which is better to go to? a barber or a hair dresser?

Depends upon whether you want a simple barber haircut, or to have your hair styled at a salon. Barber is cheaper usually.
despite what you may think, each has had different training. if you want a cut and style a hairdresser, if you just want a cut --barber. a barber however has no background in coloring perming, relaxing or styling your hair. on the contrary he or she can shave your face whereas a salon can wax. hope i helped
