For anyone who is a professional hair dresser...?

What are the pros and cons of the profession?

Do you regret going into haircutting?

What does the schooling entail?

and.. if you don't mind sharing.. how much do you make per year?

Thanks! For anyone who is a professional hair dresser...?
pros: getting your hair done for free

getting the latest updates on hair and makeup trends

getting to do something creative everyday

cons:having to build a clientele (meaning starting at the bottom doing everyone elses ***** work)

low pay until you work your way up

catty stylists

client stealing

Sometimes i regret it, but i think it is just because of the place i work at. i'm sure i would be happier if i open up my own salon.

School teaches you all the basics to know in styling. the basic cuts, basic ways to do colour and foiling. you learn how to sterilize, the chemistry of colour, and the business aspects of being a stylist.

right now, per year, i'm making about 13,000 give or take.

if you are seriously becoming a stylist, be very picky in the place you work at, or you will really regret it later. For anyone who is a professional hair dresser...?
You have to be a people person. You need to continue learning even after you're licensed. You are getting into way more than haircutting. You can go to a beauty school...or a vocational high school-which I personally think is better... Your money depends on you. How slowly or quickly you work, what you charge, what your work looks like, your clientele. You are pretty much a self-employed individual. Try asking any business owners you know, the pros and cons of being self-employed. That may help you a little too.
